Slip Slidin Away on Eagle Crag
After a week of serious watering, Eagle Crag Hill Race was doing a good impression of Glastonbury with most of the 26 runners taking a slip or a slide at some point.
The mist did its best to obscure a very well marked route and times were down due to conditions.
Grinning like a Cheshire cat, Tom Smith had his first win, with Colin Donnelly second and Russell Anderson (en route to a family holiday in Skye) taking third place.
Young Sarah MacKenzie took an impressive five and a half minutes off her previous best and finished first lady, comfortably ahead of Amanda Blackhall and third placed Sara Byrne. Lynn MacLennan was first vet 40 lady, in a PB by 11 minutes.
Davy Duncan was first vet 50 man and Kate Gray, a week after the Highland Cross, first vet 50 lady. On his 64th birthday, Ernie Orr was first vet 60.
Thanks go to Ken Rumgay, route marker extraordinaire, and marshals Tark Gunn, John Hepburn and the ONeill family.
Cheers, Clare
