There was a great turnout of 33 at Eagle Crag. Drew Broadley finally got to run the race he designed (serves him right!). Conditions were good, but well slippy in places. The last descent was a wee warning for Melantee.
Colin Donnelly and Dave Cummins were neck and neck the whole way and fairly flew down the new route they pioneered off the last top. Colin just took it by 6 seconds. Lochaber ladies were in fine form. Not only did Dawn set a new course record, but Lyndsey and Amanda also finished within Lyndsey's previous record. It seems that quite a few posted PBs and times seemed pretty fast overall. Great to see a few new faces and a couple of not so new in Ernie Orr and Jimmy Jardine who raced competitively - with each other as well as the rest of the field. Lochaber men were out in force. Nice to see Paul nipping home for the race and providing the added entertainment ofapparently going for a swim in the mud somewhere along the route. Special mention of Jon Gay, who finished 13th just 6 days after coming 7th in A class at LAMM. Time you were joining a local running club, Jon?....
Many thanks to all helpers and marshals - Dugie, Stephen Cant, Chloe & Donald, Neil Arnott and the O'Neill family.
Hope the winners enjoyed their prizes. A race like that just asks for soap and shower gel. |
